John William Waterhouse (1849 – 1917) was an English artist who began his work in the Academic style and later evolved to the Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood‘s style and subject matter. You probably bring to mind beautifully detailed and romantic women from both ancient Greek mythology and the Legend of King Arthur, when you think of Waterhouse. Waterhouse’s work is displayed in many major art museums and galleries. There are also many paintings online for you to admire. Here is a nearly complete listing of images.
